Community involvement

Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at our school. Your time and support help make our school a better place for everyone.

Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)

A very warm welcome to The Pocket Public School from the P&C Association. The Pocket School is a place where traditional values meet innovative teaching methods and you'll find a close-knit community of families and staff who support each other to educate our kids.

As the auxiliary P&C we’re committed to supporting teachers and parents to provide a nurturing and inspiring environment where every child can thrive and reach their full potential. Families can feel supported and included in the small and big things that make a country primary school such as ours so special and unique!

OUR P&C:

• Strongly encourages community involvement: We really do encourage parent participation in school activities and events. We invite you to get involved in our school community as much as you can (see below for ways to do that). Your presence and support make a world of difference and the kids love it when their parents get involved!
• Is safe and inclusive: Safety and inclusivity are our top priorities. We strive to ensure that every family feels valued, respected, and safe within our organisation.
• Is financially supportive of our community: The P&C offer several subsidies to families throughout the year, from swimming, excursions, financial support for student extension, and even supporting teacher funding for our school that is not funded by the govt. These subsidies are made possible by our fundraising efforts.

Another good way to stay in touch with the parent community is informally through the Whatsapp platform.

Here’s how:

• Download the app (if you don’t have it already),
• in the search bar type in THE POCKET PUBLIC SCHOOL. You’ll see the community listed there.
• Request to join by tapping on that community tab.
• Once accepted you’ll see 3 main groups, The Pocket parents, The Pocket canteam, and The Pocket P&C. You can join any/all of these to keep informed.
• Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself, we’re a friendly community and love to meet new members!

Volunteer at our school

Helping out at school is a great way to get involved in your school community.

Volunteer opportunities include:

• helping in the canteen
• getting involved in the P&C
• listening to children read in the classroom
• volunteering on sports days and other school events
• helping supervise excursions.
